2015 Silent Auction nets more than $9,000
On October 3, Broadway conducted its Ninth Annual Dinner and Silent Auction. Again, Grace United Methodist Church, located at 3012 S. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, was the host. The auction featured dozens of items for bid along with a buffet dinner served by The Skillet Restaurant, assisted by Valparaiso University students. Called “a celebration of serving South Bend’s Southeast Side neighborhood,” this year’s theme is focused on “The Garden” of Broadway and its surrounding neighborhood.
Broadway opened the evening with a performance by The Ripple Effect, a choir dedicated to the unification of community and transformation of social awareness. A presentation showcasing Broadway’s ministries was also included. Gift certificates for dining, sports and entertainment venues, works of art, special services, Christmas gift items, and unique hand-crafted works by local and global artisans were among the popular items featured for auction. The 2015 auction had a net income of $9,244.01, after expenses.
