Summer Reading Program

Reading Program helps kids with reading skills at Broadway

For the last several summers, Broadway Christian Parish and local colleges have been the hosts for a Summer Reading Program at the church which is located at 1412 Carroll St. in South Bend (corner of Broadway and Carroll, half block south of Ivy Tech campus). Rain or shine, children and parents are invited to participate. The program offers free books and activities to help children build and maintain reading skills during the summer months.

All activities and materials are free.

Summer Reading Program

This past summer, Jamie Taylor, an Ivy Tech Human Services program major, spearheaded our Summer Reading Progam for area young people. She was assisted by numerous volunteers from Broadway and the community. Research shows that children lose reading skills over the summer months. In response, Broadway and Ivy Tech Community College have sponsored this summer reading program for the past few years. Children from the neighborhood come to Broadway to practice their reading skills and do other fun activities.
